Projects

Weapons of Mass Surveillance

Generative graphics for the BBC documentary: "Weapons of Mass Surveillance"

S E M I C O L O N Y

M.A. thesis project at Goldsmiths University. An interactive exploration of nonlinear systems; evolution, emergence and morphogenesis.

Colony type-C

Continuous state Cellular automata. Simulating chemical instability to induce emergent phenomena.

The Infinite Bridge

Live performance tool designed for real time, sound reactive visuals. It explores the tension between local and global behaviour.

Individual Life Form

Genetic Software experiment. Exploring the emergent behavior of multi-agent systems, growth, mutation and the notion of death.

Revolving

Genetic software experiment. Virtual agents compete over the observer's attention, achieving aesthetic results by natural selection.

Next Station Index

Virtual showcase for a collaborative urban action by artists, farmers and architects, led by Onya Collective.

Etcetera A3

Experimental generative Animation.

etcetera

Experimental sound composition. Synthesized and recorded in real time by a mixture of autonomous and interactive (live coded) software.

Detox

Generative animation about a dramatic event, occurring at a microscopic scale.

do et

Audio-visual experiment, created in code. It attempts to articulate a process by which ideas form and accumulate as matter in 3D space.

About

Lior Ben-Gai

Works with computers and people

Lior is an Israeli digital artist, working in various digital mediums since 2008. His commercial work includes museum installations and exhibits, mobile games, web applications and custom interactive software. As an independent artist, he uses generative strategies and computational creativity to produce expressive software, animation and sound. He is emotionally drawn to computer generated graphics, strongly believes in project based learning and enjoys thinking about things he never thought about before.

Lior is currently studying for his phD at Goldsmiths University of London. His research explores the use of computer graphics and evolutionary algorithms in the context of Artificial Life.
